Please give us a short summary of your website?

Discover North Captiva Island, which is a tropical island in Southwest Florida near Sanibel. See homes for sale, vacation rentals, and general info about the island and its beaches.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We wanted to get the word out about North Captiva. It is a very special place. Where else can you walk down a beach in Florida for 2 miles without seeing a home, and still have a little resort community.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Our first website was www.northcaptiva.net and we launched it about 7-8 years ago.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

Our site has more pictures, video, nicer photos... and we have more island real estate listings to look at.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Build a list of over 10,000 potential buyers for the island with the site.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We work very hard and often, but you only need a day or two at the beach here to recharge. I just jump on the golf cart and I am at the beach in a few seconds.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I might have more video and even more in depth info.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I'd have to find a way. That would be a good problem to have!

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Hard, honest and consistent work. There are no short cuts.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We will keep this site as long as we live on North Captiva. That could be a long time. If you lived on the island, you might not want to leave either.
