Creating a need to gain recognition

This issue of politicians being suspected for making a mess of the real estate market in the U.S. from 2002 to 2008 so they could fix it and come out as the hero is nothing new.

After all, they will not be known as politicians if they don't have this perennial desire to be the champion of some cause or the hero of their constituents in order to gain recognition, which would result in getting more votes and a sure victory in the coming election.

This period of global recession has surely given them opportunities to do their "heroic acts" again.
