The most expensive and most luxurious homes and properties in the US is indeed in California, especially in its southern parts.
But like the rest of the country experienced, the part has also felt the economic melt down this past years. An article from Classifieds1000 says the luxury real estates had an unprecedented drop in prices but it didn't lost its charm completely as activity in that sector increased.
