In response to the ailing housing market, the federal government had offered tax credits for the first time home buyers.
To understand the effect of the tax credit program, the California Association of Realtors (CAR)had commissioned a survey where forty percent of the respondents said that they would not have bought their first properties if not for the tax credits.
According to CAR President James Liptak, the survey showed that the tax credit program is working.
