Our website features recreational real estate listings (vacation properties, lakeshore, land) in the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnesota.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We are a real estate team that specializes in these unique properties and really wanted to express how important it is to use a professional that knows the market.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 2003 - it was LakePlace.com (http://www.lakeplace.com)

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It says exactly who we are - Brainerd Real Estate Team.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We offer RSS feeds and in depth articles about the Brainerd Lakes area.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To help buyers and sellers with their real estate needs.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

We think all good things require investment and plan to be around to see the fruits of our labor come to fruition.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We wouldn't change a thing.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Our site is very niche and very local. Our resources should be able to handle any load we receive.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

We are running open source software - so we will need to keep it upgraded...that is about it.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The real estate market has softened quite a bit, but we are here for the long haul.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Just launched it, so ask us in a year.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Again, just launched it.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

We launched http://www.brainerdteam.com about 2 weeks ago and will continue to run it into the foreseeable future.

Who do you think will dominate the Brainerd MN real estate market in the coming years?

The Brainerd Real Estate Team, of course!
